Ridgewood is committed to working with our neighbors and cutting costs through shared service agreements. The use of our styrofoam condenser at the Ridgewood recycling center is a great example. Sharing with Glen Rock, Twp. of Washington , Garfield and soon Ho-Ho-Kus, all five communities can reap the benefit of one piece of equipment while helping the environment at the same time.

Black Bear Spotted in Twp. of Washington

Twp. of Washington NJ, according to Twp of Washington Police on February 29th  a black bear sighting was reported in the area of Lincoln Park/Braeburn Drive. He was last seen walking bearfoot in the area. Please stay away and DO NOT for any reason engage it. Contact the police department if it is acting aggressive.

Ridgefield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following updated information regarding an investigation into a fatal fire at 850 Broad Avenue in Ridgefield, NJ, that occurred on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Ridgefield Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Gallagher.

Habernickel bathrooms delayed until 2025-2026

Ridgewood NJ, the bathroom facility that was supposed to be constructed this year at Habernickel Park will be delayed until the 2025–2026 tax year. It was initially believed that the bathroom could be included in the planned $340k covered pavilion project scheduled to begin later this year. However, cost estimates for the covered pavilion itself exceeded original projections. Good news for taxpayers that Village officials have decided to delay bathroom construction because every single recreational facility bathroom project undertaken in Ridgewood since 2010 has significantly exceeded its original cost projection.

New permanent field lighting towers to be added at Vets Field

Ridgewood NJ, the proposed $700k LED field lighting project at Vets Field will require installation of three new permanent 80-foot-tall steel light towers. The new structures will be located on the west side of the field, near the Village Hall/Library Parking Lot. Eight existing 50-foot-tall steel light towers will remain in place, but their existing lighting devices will be replaced by new LED models. Currently, there is at least a 6-month backorder on the equipment required to begin this project.
