Franklin Lakes Council Postpones Vote to Rezone Cigna Property for Mixed Use

Franklin Lakes NJ, the borough postponed a vote to rezone the Cigna property for mixed use until August 15th . The vote was scheduled for action at the Borough Council’s July 6 meeting, but it was postponed that night until at least its July 18 session. Tuesday’s notice on the borough’s “Latest Buzz” website newsletter changed the vote date to Aug. 15.

Lorrimer Sanctuary in Franklin Lakes Receives a $1 million gift from the Winifred M. and George P. Pitkin Foundation

Franklin Lakes NJ, the Lorrimer Sanctuary received a $1 million gift from the Winifred M. and George P. Pitkin Foundation to support a major renovation at the facility. The gift will help finance a $3 million new educational center and is among the largest in New Jersey Audubon’s history.

Franklin Lakes NJ, Scott Lieberman was indicted by a Grand Jury; charged with a second degree felony for driving recklessly and causing the death of Albert Van Schnellbacher.  The next step is a formal arraignment but that date has not been set yet.

Franklin Lakes NJ, Franklin Lakes residents came out in force telling borough officials they want nothing to do with a proposal to build an enormous 640-unit multi-housing development on the 89-acre IBM/Express Scripts property off Parsons Pond Drive. Over 300 residents from the borough and adjacent Wyckoff attended the combined Franklin Lakes Borough Council and Planning Board information session held at Franklin Avenue Middle School on Wednesday night. During the four-hour session, the residents asked many questions, but mostly they voiced objections to the plan.

Franklin Lakes NJ,  Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today announced that two brothers who operate a school bus company in Paterson were arrested Tuesday, Dec. 20, after they allegedly employed unqualified drivers — including some with suspended licenses, arrest records and criminal convictions — all while misleading public school districts about who was transporting their students to school.

Driver Extricated After Vehicle Crash leaves Driver Trapped in Oakland

Oakland NJ, at approximately 2:40 this afternoon, Franklin Lakes Fire Department Chief 330, 340 and Rescue 3 were requested into Oakland at Franklin Lakes Road and Bauer Drive for a vehicle off the road with entrapment. Crews assisted Oakland Fire Department in stabilizing the vehicle and extricating the driver. The patient was removed and turned over to Oakland First Aid Squad for transport to a local hospital. Companies cleared the scene within the hour. Great work by all on scene.

Franklin Lakes NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced charges against SCOTT LIEBERMAN (DOB: 6/11/1961; married; business owner) of 100 Garden Court, Franklin Lakes, NJ for reckless manslaughter. The charge is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn O’Reilly.

Franklin Lakes Home Total Loss After Sunday Moring Fire

Franklin Lakes NJ, Sunday morning at approximately 1:50am, the Franklin Lakes Fire Department was dispatched for a reported fire. Chief 330 and Chief 340 arrived on scene and reported a 2.5 story wood-frame residential home heavily involved in fire and transmitted the 2nd alarm. Crews had the bulk of fire knocked down within an hour. No injuries were reported. The house was demolished at daybreak due to safety concerns .The Franklin Lakes Police assisted and  Mutual aid ,  Wyckoff Fire , Oakland Fire ,Waldwick Fire , Allendale Fire, Mahwah ladder Company #4  and Engine Company 425  and Midland Park Fire  all offered mutual aid.

Franklin Lakes NJ, According to Franklin Lakes Police, a sedan struck and killed a small black bear on Route 208,  hitting the bear between Ewing and Summit avenues in Franklin Lakes around 11 p.m. Friday.

In September of 2021 Governor Murphy reiterated “There will be no bear hunt this year. Period. I can say that definitively,”  The state, he said, “is committed to nonlethal, humane but smart and safe means to control the population.”

Appropriate  measures were initiated and it was determined that no immediate threat to staff or students was present at that time . The ongoing investigation which included assistance from the Bergen County Prosecutors office resulted in multiple charges being filed on a juvenile complaint .”
