Ridgewood NJ, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming in Ridgewood opened in 2017 to spoil furry family members and cater to customers with a caring, personalized touch. In recent months, the woman-owned small business has faced current challenges head-on to thrive and support the needs of the local community, employees, neighbors and their beloved pets.
Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Ridgewood owner Maureen Barrett was recently selected by GlobalGiving to receive a $5,000 COVID-19 relief and recovery grant from the Red Backpack Fund, made possible by the Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation. Grantees were selected based on outstanding applications, an urgent need for COVID-19 business relief and demonstrated capacity to overcome setbacks.
“The first respondent asked why “all of Ridgewood” wasn’t invited, and the answer is really simple. These “teens” as they call themselves with their meeting “for teens, run by teens” invitation first of all, aren’t teens, and they are not looking for the betterment of society but rather, how many institutions can they attack and destroy. Their crowd of “know it all young adults” who consider themselves teens so they can hope to not be responsible for their actions. They hope to be getting more bleeding hearts who say “How could those big mean cops pick on a Latino teenager? They are obviously racists.” “or pick on an innocent teen (?) girl” who “just happened” to come with own photographer, recorder, and lawyer on July 4th? These brats assume they have the right to destroy society so they can have fun and get people to support them. Parents, please talk logic to your kids and hopefully get them to not participate in these mobs. Someone is going to get hurt.”
“Why do we have so many bleeding hearts in our communities? If it is a “child–even if said “child” is 22–people can’t wait to slam the police for picking on a “kid”. Doesn’t matter if said “kid” is from out-of- state, or if they are no longer a “kid” except in attitude–these “poor little darlings” are being unjustly picked on. Who cares if they endanger others with their unsafe walking, or biking? Doesn’t matter if Police in various towns have warned them already and they are still breaking laws by the time they get to our community. Nothing matters to these individuals except that “a kid is being unjustly picked on” by these “nasty old Police who should certainly know better than to accuse “a child” of anything. These are the same individuals whose “darling child could never do a wrong” and thus other parents must have raised a child who can do no wrong either–unless it is said parents’ child who is being “picked on” by someone else’s “brat”. (Bet, if these people are actually parents they have no more than 2 “adored” children–with more children (or with the brains God gave them) a parent soon realizes that the world is not always rosy nor filled with “sweet little children”. What will it take to have these “highly indignant” individuals get out of their dream world and into understanding reality?”
The anxiety plague hasn’t left the dogs alone. Just like us, our furry companions can develop different anxiety types at a very young age, including food aggression, separation anxiety, and general anxiety. This means that your dog’s confusing behavior might be a symptom of anxiety.
Ridgewood NJ, the death of unarmed black man George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer was a flash-point for US race relations, setting off massive protests that spread around the world, including Ridgewood .
The demonstrations endorsed the simple messages that “black lives matter”, that the blood of minorities is not cheap and the injustices they face, past and present, must be addressed much more vigorously.
“You Can’t ask for money for a problem you created murphy. Shouldn’t have kept small businesses closed for so long. You destroyed lives to save lives. Now alot of us will have to move because even with any federal aid you will raise taxes. You put all your hopes into federal money and on top of that the people you keep asking for money you paint them as villains. Money doesn’t grow on trees; we are already heading towards hyperinflation. You’ve already proven you can’t manage a state budget. You spend money like water and refuse to make the necessary cuts needed to balance the budget. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. From the republican side we blame your leaders for their decisions for their irresponsible spending. You can scream, cry, threaten, complain but at the end of the day you’ll be held accountable for NJ’s suffering. Obviously democratic leadership has created more poverty like it does in every democratic run state. Learn how to manage your funds and stop playing victim. You shut down NJ and then locked up, fined, & threatened to revoke license to any small business that tried to reopen to survive this pandemic. Those were your executive orders nobody else’s. You will be held accountable. NJ needs new leadership, republican leadership but since that wont ever happen NJs economy will never get better because all democrats do is spend & raise taxes. Someone take Murphy’s checkbook away already.”

…the fly suspects a set up of Ridgewood Police with tackled cyclist , elements in Ridgewood’s High School community, fringe groups and certain out of favor out of power local factions are attempting to get to the mayor by bashing Ridgewood Police and attacking the mayors sons who are on the force . The Ridgewood Police continue to be concerned that these protests may result in dangerous consequences
“Rallies be damned. Help improve the life of this one black man. This would make a serious meaningful impact, more than marching around and shouting. Catherine Brienza? Jeanne Thiesen ? Laurence Fine? Come on you talk the talk now walk the walk.”
“Taking such a man into your home is both dangerous and possibly hazardous. Some, who are merely down on their luck, can be helped but the untrained should never take in anyone with a true mental condition. This man obviously has a mental problem. The Police can keep taking him to Bergen Pines, but he can’t be kept there unless he agrees to treatment. One of the “Defund the Police” suggestions is to keep a specially trained social worker on staff who can be called to go with a police officer to try to defuse this situation. Most officers, however, have been trained to deal with this themselves and, in Ridgewood at least, that would probably be a duplication of services.”
“As several posters said, “We’ve offered help. He doesn’t want it.” It is against the law to commit anyone involuntarily unless he/she is a danger to him/herself or to others. Some people are so disturbed that they just want to be left alone. He’s not standing in the street begging, is he? When it gets hotter, or colder, he may decide he can use some help and will accept it then. It is also against the law to publicly urinate or defecate. We could legally have him picked up, and then what? The United States has lots of agencies designed to help people such as this. But they have to be willing to take the help. There used to be a drop in center, run privately by donations, to help mentally disturbed people with no questions asked in Hackensack. They lost their lease–but they couldn’t have helped this man. Homeless shelters will take him for a month unless he is an addict or is constantly drunk. There are actually some small shelters for those people. He is probably a result of NJ choosing to close psychiatric hospitals and throw their residents onto the public for assistance. I well know that I am not offering any solution to his presence. In reality, with the law the way it is, there is no solution. He most likely was living on the streets in another community and was literally picked up and dumped here. Someone mentioned that the “Black Lives Matter” group could take a real Black and, with much constant effort and concern be able to help him understand that he needs help and find help for him. That would certainly be a more fruitful use of their time than blocking streets and traffic and expecting everyone else in the world “to see it their way.” But, this group seems to be interested in making noise and proving that their “rights” can do away with others rights as they –think, not know, as they assume–that they are “educated” “with it” etc. What was the quote about nothing is achieved if it is only sought “through sound and fury”? That does seem to be all that they are capable of doing. They are young, yes, and the young always know what is best for the world until they are forced to quit living “in the world as they want it” and accept “the world that really exists today”. “
