Ridgewood NJ, recent walk through of the Schedler Property reveled electrical wiring issues at the home. It appears someone is trying to sabotage the property , perhaps burn it down as has been suggested from some corners the Village.
“As a license electrician looking at what they have there… I can assure you there is no sabotage other than bubble covers missing from 2 of the boxes. It apears 1 fell off and the 2nd one has a broken plastic hinge from the picture. There is no overload there at all there are nine circuits of which eight are visible… each twelve and fourteen gauge chord has its own circuit. This is above and beyond the rules of the NEC..” JN

Ridgewood NJ, It is being rumored that free restaurant dinners were offered to selected residents as an incentive for them to attend this past Wednesday’s Ridgewood Village Council meeting and speak in support of an artificial turf field on the former Schedler property.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Village Council was chastised by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network for the Village of Ridgewood signing the “Green Amendment” . In a letter to the Village Council ,the Delaware Riverkeeper Network called the planning to remove all the trees and install an artificial turf field at the the historic Schedler property ,”direct opposition the the principles outlined in the (Green amendment)”. They referred to the clear cutting of trees and putting in a turf field as a “substantially damaging environmental action” and and finally they called the Village Council “hypocritical” for signing the amendment .

Ridgewood NJ, when informed by Village Engineer Christopher Rutishauser Wednesday evening that the NJ State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will control almost every aspect of their plan to develop the Schedler property, Village Council members were visibly perturbed. Especially after Mr. Rutishauser said that a full sized athletic field with artificial turf and permanent lighting would probably not be approved by SHPO.

Dear Neighbor,
You may have heard recently about some hubbub relating to the Schedler Property, but you probably don’t know much about it. Well, here’s a little background and why you should be concerned.

Ridgewood NJ, Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd seems hell bent on finding out the name of the Village employee/official who allegedly “requested” that the State of NJ’s Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) designate the entire Schedler property as “historic.” The “historic” designation status requires SHPO’s approval of any plans the Village may have to develop/improve the property.

Ridgewood NJ, her campaign mailer (see above) said one thing; after she was sworn in, she said the opposite.
Here’s what our readers said about the U-Turn:

Ridgewood NJ, as a candidate for elected office, private citizen Siobhan Winograd said something different about developing the Schedler property than now Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd is saying. Check out this campaign mailer of hers we just dug up.
Hmm. Did anyone notice whether the Councilwoman’s pants were on fire the last time she was seen in public?

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood’s Historic Schedler Property is unique and unlike any other Village Parcel. This historical Revolutionary War site is a full ecosystem of wildlife and vegetation (protected, state-threatened and endangered). Additionally, located along Route 17 North (a major transportation corridor), the tree/green-filled parcel filters out light, noise, visual, airborne particulates, gaseous pollutants, and air toxins emitted by diesel trucks and cars.
The new Village Council moved to replace the Schedler Park plan (approved by Resolution 18-236), adding a full-sized regulation turf field. The approved plan, now in jeopardy, balanced the needs of the impacted neighborhood, sports groups, conservationists, historians, and taxpayers and included a 75×50 multi-use field. With required oversight from the State of NJ Historic Preservation, the plan was moving forward with expected completion by late spring 2023.

Ridgewood NJ, in response to a resident’s concern regarding the need for additional Village Council studies of Schedler property development plans, Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd just wrote this on Facebook: “ . . . we as a council of five cannot access our staff professionals independently.” Meaning, the Councilwoman is unhappy that she can’t question Village employees directly about Schedler. Our form of government doesn’t permit it. The Village Manager is the gatekeeper; it’s been that way for decades.
