Americans ho-hum on Earth Day’s Impact

Ridgewood NJ, a majority of Americans say they’ve done their share to clean up the planet, but most don’t credit Earth Day – celebrated annually on April 22 – for raising awareness of environmental issues.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 60% of American Adults have volunteered their time or donated money to help clean up the environment. That’s down from 65% in 2017, which was the highest in our survey history. Thirty-three percent (33%) have not contributed time or money to green efforts. NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover Extracts First Oxygen from Red Planet

MARS, The growing list of “firsts” for Perseverance, NASA’s newest six-wheeled robot on the Martian surface, includes converting some of the Red Planet’s thin, carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere into oxygen. A toaster-size, experimental instrument aboard Perseverance called the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) accomplished the task. The test took place April 20, the 60th Martian day, or sol, since the mission landed Feb. 18.

Hackensack NJ, The Passaic County Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program, or SLAP, is back after more than a year’s hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The SLAP program works with counties to allow non-violent offenders to fulfill their sentences without incarceration through labor to many municipalities and organizations. SLAP crews perform jobs like the removal of trash along the roadways, highways and off-ramps.

Delayed Openings for Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland at the American Dream mall

East Rutherford NJ, more delays for Xanadu ie … the American Dream Mall.  The openings of Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland , have been postponed until the summer. The original  opening date for the two attractions was set for May 4. On Wednesday, a spokesperson announced the delay, less than two weeks before the planned opening.
