The Children’s Environmental Health Center of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai strongly  discourages the installation of artificial turf playing surfaces and fields due to the uncertainties surrounding  the safety of these products and the potential for dangerous heat and chemical exposures.

Petition to Save Schedler Making the Rounds

Hello! Over the weekend, the NJ Star Ledger published an article titled “Turf Wars Raging as N.J. Residents Face Off Over Replacing Grass with Artificial Fields.” Additionally, CBS News New York visited Ridgewood yesterday and covered the topic in their evening news segment and put it over social media (1+million followers), highlighting the ongoing battles surrounding artificial turf fields in New Jersey communities. They focused on Ridgewood as the main news hook given the atrocity of artificial turf on historic property and potential destruction of our green environment and Revolutionary War artifacts.

In April Mr. Primavera outlined the scope of his proposed work for the Council after summarizing his educational background, professional credentials, and related work experience. Now the Village of Ridgewood has to spend more money on yet another Expert Historical Assessment, the Schedler Project is again delayed, and 510 West Saddle River Road property will most likely be deemed historical as well. The Village Council Majority keeps taxing residents in every way.

After Massive Tax Increase the Village of Ridgewood Makes A Land Grab Next to the Schedler Property

We are writing on behalf of the New Jersey Student Climate Advocates to express our concerns over the decision of the Ridgewood Village Council to remove trees at the Schedler property for the building of a turf field. It directly contradicts the fundamentals of the recently passed Green Amendment, as it jeopardizes the conservation and maintenance of Ridgewood’s public natural resources.

UPDATE: Attempted Sabotage Spotted at the Schedler Property in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, recent walk through of the Schedler Property reveled  electrical wiring issues at the home. It appears someone is trying to sabotage the property , perhaps burn it down as has been suggested from some corners the Village.

“As a license electrician looking at what they have there… I can assure you there is no sabotage other than bubble covers missing from 2 of the boxes. It apears 1 fell off and the 2nd one has a broken plastic hinge from the picture. There is no overload there at all there are nine circuits of which eight are visible… each twelve and fourteen gauge chord has its own circuit. This is above and beyond the rules of the NEC..” JN

Delaware Riverkeeper Network Chastises Ridgewood Council Over Schedler Property Calling the Destruction of the Property a “substantially damaging environmental action”

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Village Council was chastised by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network for the Village of Ridgewood signing the “Green Amendment” . In a letter to the Village Council ,the Delaware Riverkeeper Network called the planning to remove all the trees and install an artificial turf field at the the historic Schedler property ,”direct opposition the the principles outlined in the (Green amendment)”. They referred to the clear cutting of trees and putting in a turf field as a “substantially damaging environmental action”  and and finally they called the Village Council “hypocritical” for signing the amendment .
