INCREASE IN CAR THEFTS IN RIDGEWOOD

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Police ,since January 1, 2022 there have been 5 car thefts in the Village of Ridgewood. This is an issue in surrounding towns, as well.  All of these cars had the keys or key fobs left in the cars.  These are crimes of opportunity.  If a person pulls on a vehicle door handle, and it is locked, the person will move on to another vehicle.  Also, some cars have side-view mirrors that automatically face inward when the car is locked.  If a person is passing on the street and sees an unattended car with side-view mirrors facing outward, they know that the car is unlocked.  Please remember to lock your vehicles in your driveways; remove your keys and key fobs from your vehicle; do not leave your vehicles running, unattended, to warm them up on cold mornings; and do not leave valuables in your vehicles, because it may entice a person to break into a vehicle.

It seems the story about Benjamin Franklin wanting the National Bird to be a turkey is probably just a myth. The story came as a result of a letter Franklin wrote to his daughter criticizing the original eagle design for the Great Seal , saying that it looked more like a turkey.
